It has been confirmed that the University of Ibadan (UI) has cancelled the 2019/2020 academic session. According to the report, this was part of resolutions reached an assembly of the university’s Senate that was held on Thursday.
A Senate member who spoke to newsmen after the meeting revealed that the institution will recommence the school on Monday, January 18 for the conclusion of the 2018/2019 session.
The completion of the aborted 2018/2019 session will be by February and then a 3-week break will be given and resumption for the 2020/2021 session will follow.
It was also resolved that the institution will not admit applicants for the 2021/ 2022 educational session. The university is to notify JAMB not to list it in the JAMB brochure for the 2021/2022 session as applicants who applied to the university for the 2020/2021 session would be taken in the 2021/2022 session. However, this decision, exempts postgraduate students, aspirants of Distance learning programs, and direct entry students from affiliated institutions.
A decision to set up committees to put together and examine the modalities for the behavior of online classes, in some departments was similarly taken at the assembly meeting
