UI Senate Recommends Reappointment Of Acting VC

The Universiy of Ibadan UI Senate Recommends Reappointment Of Acting VC Professor Adebola Ekanola to continue his position.

The Senate of the University of Ibadan (UI) has recommended to the Board of Directors the reappointment of Prof. Adebola Ekanola as Acting Vice Chancellor (VC) for a new six months.

Professor Adebola Ekanola, a Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs in University of Ibadan was appointed as Deputy Vice Chancellor on December 1, 2020 following an impasse in the appointment of a substantive Vice-Chancellor.

The law that establishes the university provides for the current VC to serve for a six-month term, which means Professor Adebola Ekanola’s term as the Deputy Vice Chancellor in University of Ibadan UI will end on May 30, 2021.

The university’s communications director, Olatunji Oladejo, made this announcement in an interview with the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) in Ibadan on Monday.

Oladejo said he did not know anyone who could oppose Ekanola’s reappointment because every member of the Senate attended the meeting whose decision was taken on Monday.

“I am only interested in the decisions of the university senate, not speculation.

“Individuals at the Senate meeting had the opportunity to canvass for the position today, how come those speculating didn’t win there?

“Everyone spoke and shared their views there and it was agreed that Ekanola would be reappointed,” he said. (NAN)
