UNIJOS Halts Academic Activities And Orders The Closure Of Dormitories

University of Jos (UNIJOS) has stopped all academic activities and ordered the immediate shut down of all dormitories as the safety of facility staff and students is threatened.
Jos University management has ordered that all hostels at the university be closed. This follows an urgent leadership meeting with the Dean of the University for Student Affairs, Chief Security Officer, President, Student Union Government (SUG), Speaker of Parliament and outside security agencies on Friday 30 April 2021.

A security report on security threats to university staff, students and property was discussed at the meeting. As a result, easy targets like dormitories are at great risk.

Given the above, hostels should be closed immediately. This is for the safety of students until all security measures to protect the campus and dormitories are stepped up.

However, all exams must proceed without hindrance.

University community members must note this and strictly comply with this policy.
