Oyo State Governor Sei Makinde yesterday announced a 25 percent cut in school fees for students at LADOKE Akintola University of Technology LAUTECH, Ogbomoso.
The governor made the promise, while meeting with students of the institution on Tuesday, during his visit to the town to commission the school’s teaching hospital’s High Dependency Unit.
He also promised to arrange the school’s academic calendar so that the student’s one-year course will not be extended to eight years as a result of the strike.
The governor claimed the cuts would be reduced, adding that he had taken steps, even though LAUTECH school fees cost were still the lowest in the entire Southwest.
He emphasized that he had led his campaign by repairing the Under G road and increasing the LAUTECH sole ownership for the state of Oyo.
Makinde said, “I can tell you that LAUTECH school fees is still the lowest in the entire Southwest. However, I will reduce your overall costs; both natives and non-natives, even new students. There will be 25 percent reduction across the board.”
“We make sure that your four-year course doesn’t turn into an eight-year course due to multiple strikes. We will make sure that your academic calendar is well organized,” he promises.
