Akwa Ibom prohibits Admission of Over Age Students into Secondary Schools

The government of Akwa Ibom has banned students over the age of twelve (12) from enrolling in state public high schools.
To curb the tide of religious activity and other social evils in schools, the Akwa Ibom state government has ordered that no child over the age of 12 be admitted to public high schools in the state.

Information and Strategy Commissioner in the state, Mr Ini Ememobong, said in a statement that the decision taken at the state council meeting on Thursday, 8th after prior investigations proved that the high rate of cult activities in public Secondary Schools was caused by over-aged students.

However, he said that any student over the age of 12 with real reason would sign a parental commitment to good behavior before being admitted.
