The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) invites eligible Nigerians to apply for 2021/22 student, masters and doctoral scholarships for students at Nigerian federal universities.

This scholarship is highly competitive and depends on performance. Selection of candidates is based on fair representation of the 36 Federation countries and the FCT

Type: Undergraduate and PhD Students

Eligibility to participate in 2021 Petroleum Technology Development Scholarship For Students In Federal Universities In Nigeria

A). Undergraduate:

  • Applicants must be full-time students at each of the listed federal universities.
  • Applicants must be in their second year of study.
  • As advertised, courses must be related to the oil and gas industry.
  • Students do not have to be admitted to the university until the 2018/19 school year.
  • Has 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO including English and Maths
  • Have a minimum cumulative score (CGPA) of 3.5 on a 5-point scale or 3.0 on a 4-point scale, which is 2.1 in the first year for 2018/19 student accounts
  • Applicants must provide a first year diploma (certificate must be signed and stamped by HOD/testing staff or authorized staff).
  • B). (ISS) Teacher:
  • Applicants must possess a full-time admission letter into any of the Federal Universities.
  • A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an oil and gas related field or a 2.2 with a minimum working experience of 2 years in the oil and gas industry.
  • The training course must be related to the oil and gas industry.
  • Have at least 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO results (no more than 2 sessions and both results must precede first degree)
  • Certificate or Exception from the National Youth Corps (NYSC)
  • Certificate of kinship (proof of state of origin and local government)
  • A personal explanation of at least 1000 words stating the reason for the course.
  • °C). Ph.D. (ISS):
  • Applicants must possess a full-time admission letter into any of the Federal Universities.
  • A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field or a 2.2 in their first degree with a minimum working experience of 2 years in the oil and gas industry
  • A minimum of merit in a second-degree certificate in an oil and gas-related discipline
  • Possess at least 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO results (not more than 2 sittings and the two results must precede the first degree)
  • National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate or Letter of exemption
  • Certificate of indigeneship (evidence of state of origin and local government)
  • The research area must be relevant to the oil and gas industry
  • Ph.D. research proposal of not more than 6 pages. The proposal template can be accessed via the applicant’s profile on the PTDF Scholarship Management Portal.
